Talisker® Launches Personalised Limited Edition Luxury Gift-Pack
Talisker single malt Scotch whisky has produced a limited edition personalised luxury gift-pack to celebrate its heritage with the sea. A limited edition run of just 100 individually numbered gift-packs will retail at Selfridges for £250 from November. The nautical themed design is inspired by the Talisker distillery’s location by the sea on the shores of the Isle of Skye.
Containing a bottle of the world renowned Talisker 25yr old – this exclusive luxury gift-pack pack comes in a magnificent hand-crafted solid oak display box. The gift-pack is made of real leather and features brass panelling on the front. Perfect for the sailor that has everything, the Talisker gift-pack also contains a brass disk which can be returned to Talisker for a personal inscription and later fastened on top of the leather case. It’s an ideal space to engrave the name of a boat or a loved one’s initials and makes it ‘the’ luxury present to have this Christmas.
The interior of the hand-crafted oak display box is lined with suede leather and provides an opulent casing for the luxury gift-pack and two Talisker ‘tipping glasses’. The glasses are designed to spin and rock to avoid spilling a drop of your favourite dram - perfect for riding the waves out at sea.
The Talisker luxury gift-pack provides a perfect gift for anyone with an interest in the sea. Whether on the water or at home, a reminder of the sea can be found with a dram of Talisker. As waves from the ocean crash against the rocks in front of the Talisker distillery the surroundings have come to define the Talisker flavour - a powerful peat nose with subtle traces of sea-saltiness, making way for smoky sweet malt-flavours and a developing warmth that precedes a long, spicy finish. With the Talisker luxury gift-pack, the sea will never be far away.

“Simply stunning, with a perfect balance of sweetness and acidity, great depth and a smoky, earthy richness. An excellent, mellow yet vigorous example of Talisker.”
Nose:
Dry, robust and rich yet also soft and mild, no nose-prickle. Dense, ripe fruit; dark cherry compote. Some smokiness, overall great depth and finesse. A herb garden after rain, smoked paprika, salted almonds. In time, a fascinating salty edge dominates. Water increases the power and raises more smoky scents, and sweetness (embers and a sweet almost pear-like note below). Deep, complex, maritime too - fresh fish, boat varnish, seaweed.
Body:
Medium to full. Smooth.
Palate:
Drinks well at natural strength; mild for Talisker, with little pepper in the finish. Volcanic; erupts with flavour. Chewy, rich; a hint of burnt chocolate-cake sweetness, then immense beechwood smoke and brine break over the tongue. More approachable with water; good mouthfeel. Sweet, more clearly than the nose suggests, then definitely salty. Retains the classic Talisker gear-shift half-way along the palate but here the chilli hit is subdued.
Finish:
Very long, warming and gingery, with late smoky cocoa. With water, smokier still; smoky bacon lingers.
