Each year, we put our heads together to come up with a unique Christmas gift for our clients and suppliers. In addition to spreading a little festive cheer amongst our friends, we always aim to send something that symbolises the GPA company ethos and celebrates the achievements of the past year.
 
For us, 2021 has been all about sustainability in packaging, and in particular the development of innovative, eco-friendly alternatives to plastic, such as moulded pulp. This led us to develop an entirely plastic-free festive mailer containing a snowflake ornament.
 
The mailers, which were developed by our talented Head of Luxury Design, Christian Zebitz, are manufactured from white, FSC-certified paper. The exterior features a debossed snowflake and the GPA branding in blue foils, while the interior is embellished with an array of wintry foliage and snowflakes – also in blue foil.
 
The snowflake ornament itself was crafted from plywood and comes as two separate pieces on a plywood frame – this frame also holds a piece of blue ribbon used to hang the ornament. The last component of the mailer is a double-sided, illustrated insert giving straightforward instructions on how to remove the pieces from the frame and assemble the ornament.
 
We’re pleased to say that the entire pack is plastic-free, right down to the snowflake sticker that seals the mailer shut.
