Bourjois Velvet Ink Luxury Cosmetics Packaging
Bourjois is one of the most popular beauty brands on the planet, celebrated for its chic yet competitively priced products. Recently, the brand’s parent company Coty got in touch with our team to request a premium promotional cosmetics packaging that would go out to beauty influencers.
The finished result is an elegant yet understated red gift box that houses 18 shades of Bourjois’ Velvet Ink lip gloss. We used a jewellery box design with a lid that opens along a concealed hinge to reveal a mirror and three stacked trays holding the lip glosses.
The packaging also incorporates a feature suggested by the GPA Luxury team: a drawer in the base holding a drawstring travel pouch designed to carry a single lip gloss. The client agreed that this small addition helps to cultivate a superior experience for the end user.
The exterior of the cosmetic packaging is wrapped in soft-touch red-dyed paper. Minimal embellishments were added to evoke the design of the Velvet Ink bottle, which has a distinctive gold lid. We add fluted gold lines in hot foil to the top of the lid, and small gold knobs to the front of the lid and the base drawer.
Each box also has a customised gold plaque set into the top. This plaque bears the Bourjois branding, along with the specific details of the recipient e.g. their name and a slogan in their native language. To ensure this process went smoothly, we arranged for the plaques to be applied at factory level, along with a protective removable film.
Inside, the three trays sit stacked on top of one another, each containing six lip glosses – we found this was the most practical and protective way to organise the contents. Each tray is wrapped in the same red paper as the exterior, and holds an EVA fitment covered with black flock. They also have red ribbon tabs on either side to enable easy removal.
The final feature is the base drawer, which opens to reveal the drawstring pouch held in an EVA fitment. The bag is made from a soft red velvet fabric and features the Bourjois branding in gold foil.
In total we produced 246 individually customised gift boxes – and the client was delighted with the result!
